To Passing Through

Lights they hold
Her steps and undercover blues
She moves along
Those tender lines
I fill her thoughts with mine
Steal her songs
And syncopated rhymes
These gaps persist
Between our hands
Infinitesimal debris of these
bitter desires dancing around her lips
Uttering nothing
On our separate beds writing
About lost selves
Finding only fades
Until there’s no one left to burn
And when we’re finally alone
With words slipping through your throats
Knees curled up your chin
Setting fire to your bones
And when you look at these
Empty spaces around you
Dissipate into fragments
Until emptiness is you.
